Essay: When is it Over?
It
began forty three years ago,
And
I still feel the pain,
As
if it started only yesterday.
When
is it over?
The
monster died a couple of weeks ago,
But
his death has opened old wounds,
Wounds
that scarred over long ago.
When
is it over?
The
rape, the forced sodomy, the pain.
After
nine years of child abuse,
When
does the child heal?
When
is it over?
It
is never over.
Hi, Raymond I suffered abuse from the time I was conceived by my Mother and then was sexually molested from about age 3 from my Father. I know how it is to put everything in a box so it doesn't hurt. The main thing that has helped me overcome a lot of emotional and psychological pain is knowing that God loves me. Why did He allow this to happen? I don't know. But I have been molded into the person I am now with His help. I was able to forgive my abusers through the power of Christ, who is my Lord and Savior. He has given me His peace, knowing that He is the One who will deal with my abusers in His own way and I can let go of the anger and feelings of hopelessness. The Bible says that Jesus came to heal the broken-hearted and I have found with Him in my life, that is true. I could not live without Him and would not want to. He died on the Cross to pay for my sins and those of my abusers. But He arose from the grave to give us hope and a future with Him. I have also written poetry about it and had a book published, called, "My Story Through Poetry - From Despair to Triumph" by Sharon Newmann. I wish you healing and freedom from your pain.

Hi, Raymond I noticed that your blog began in January this year. Are you still keeping on with this blog? I find your poems to be heart-rending. I had a blog site as well but stopped it same time as you started yours. I'm thinking of starting one up again. I too think it is important to share our experiences to help others.
