Now I Get It Rosebud

Now I Get it Rosebud

But what I was told
Told by a little bird,
Took all of the thunder
Out of my written word;

It reduced me to ashes
No longer a joy,
To write about a man

When you only wanted a boy.

Just Another Autumn Day

Here is my latest creation.  I am trying to expand my boundaries beyond my comfort zone

Just another Autumn Day

On a cold autumn morn’
Leaves fall from the trees,
Come alive on the ground
In an ever present breeze;

The breeze rapes the tree
Its color stripped away,
Left cold and insecure
Just another autumn day.

Nothing More, Nothing Less

Nothing More, Nothing Less

We come into this world alone
We leave this world alone,
Everything acquired is a gift
What do we truly own?

I am strong, I am wealthy
In truth I am powerless,
None of that matters
I leave as I came in…

nothing more, nothing less.

Forever

The saddest thing of all for me is that I am the author of this writing:

Forever

I was silent for many years
Only one bit of wisdom to share with you,
If you are a victim of childhood sexual abuse
This one thing I know is true;

“No matter where you go in life
No matter your endeavor,
If you never come forward about your abuse

You’ll make yourself a victim forever.”

Let's Get Organized

Let’s Get Organized

Last night I had a dream, a very strange and unusual dream where I had
awoken to a world where I had lost all of my freedoms of self-expression.  No
more poetry, no more essays, no more recitals, everything now was under g
government rule.  Somehow while I was sleeping the government silently and secretly took away all these liberties I had based my life on.  My ability to share about child abuse, gone.  My ability to share my opinions on life, Love, the world, especially the government, gone.

Upon my awakening it occurred  to me that we don’t have any grass-roots organizations to watch over our government to make sure that our rights to freedom of self-expression are not threatened.

Therefore, I propose we start one.  If  this grass-roots organization is something  you would like to help create or at the very least be put on the mailing list of send me an email at raymondtuckerjr@gmail.com with the word organize in the subject line and I’ll get back to you shortly with further details.

Thanks for your help, your support, and your understanding.

I’m going to write a poem.

Essay: We Do Not Conform

We Do Not Conform

Wallace Carothers, you have probably never heard of him.  Who was he and what did he do for you?  I’ll tell you in a moment.  He was born in 1896 and died at the age of 41 by drinking a cocktail of cyanide and lemon juice.  He was an incredibly gifted chemist that two years before his death invented nylon.  He suffered bouts of depression his entire life (probably bi-polar) and killed himself seven months before the birth of his daughter Jane.  As with many gifted people he never saw the applications of his work and how his discoveries would change the world.  Every time you put on a pair of panty hose you have Dr. Carothers to thank.

Nikola Tesla, a tremendously gifted inventor never saw the commercial applications of his inventions and as a result was continuously taken advantage of and died penniless. He was the inventor of the alternating current.  Everytime you flick a light switch and a light bulb lights you have Nikola Tesla to thank.

Even Eastman Kodak, so famous I don’t have to provide an explanation, left a suicide note that read, “To my friends: My work is done.  Why wait?”  Bi-polar, probably.

How can I be expected to achieve any more than these great men and the countless more just like them that provide for the everyday comforts I enjoy.

The list goes on and on, living and dead:

Bill Gates
Steve Jobs
Mark Zuckerberg
Etc.

What is it that makes them different?

How is it that they see a fourth side in something when everyone sees only three?

We see this spanning all the Arts, writing, singing, drawing, the entire spectrum.  We see the greatness and the sadness in all the “Greats”, most notably the suicides.  Depression?  Definitely.  Undiagnosed bi-polar, most likely.

I believe but cannot prove that there is a direct correlation between being bi-polar and unintentionally achieving greatness. It’s just a theory.

In closing I just want to quote one of my greatest heroes of all time, Army Officer Nathan Hale, born in Coventry Connecticut in 1755.  When asked by the British Army if he had anything to say right before being hung, he stated, “I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country.”

“I wish I had done more with mine.”

Fantasyland

Be Forewarned, it's long, it's epic, and it's beautiful.  I would love feedback.  Night before last I did not sleep.  I had an idea for a poem (this poem) and spent seven hours, throughout the night, writing it.  I'll sleep some other day!!!  Enjoy...

Fantasyland

My beloved, My beloved
Her thoughts are flooding into my mind,
I feel something starting to form
Another one of a kind;

How will I tell it?
What am I going to say?
Maybe a poem, maybe a quote,
Maybe simply and essay;

Then what should I tell you
What wisdom should I impart?
I’ll tell you about my yearning
Yes, I know just where to start;

Let’s start with my heart
Where my beloved resides,
It’s where my inner child
Always runs and hides;

Me the child
Her the child bride,
A world of our own
Your rules defied!

I’ll tell you of our world
Until now you didn’t know,
Our secret hiding place
Where only we can go;

It’s a magical, mystical place
Where the cats are purple and green,
The dogs run backwards
And nothing is as it seems;

What we see and do
Would probably make no sense,
From an outsiders perspective
And what our union represents;

Yet it’s where our prayers are answered
And love is always the theme,
And dreams are reality
And reality is only a dream;

It’s where I see us and our future
I’ve visited many times before,
And although we call it Fantasyland
It is home to the one I adore;

She has free reign there
Beware if looks could kill,
‘Cause if you visit Fantasyland
My beloved has free will;

Yet you cannot visit there
It’s in another dimension in time,
The only way you’ll know about it
Is if you follow my meter & rhyme;

So follow along if you dare
Be careful what you ask for,
This is more than just a story
More than just Poe’s Nevermore;

For Fantasyland is in my mind
It’s where my beloved and I can exist,
Her the ruling Queen
Me just a Poet & Essayist;

For I’m there to entertain her
And to fulfill her every need,
A life for a life
This is what we’ve agreed;

But there is nothing to take for granted
My beloved MUST know,
Will I PROVE my LOVE
Or is it all just for SHOW???

I prove it time and again
No matter the task,
My beloved knows
All she has to do is ask;

If she says, “Take a beating”
I say, “Yes ma’am,”
And when it’s over I’ll say,
“Would you like me to do it again;”

If she says, “Jump”
I’d say, “How high,”
Without question, for her
I live, and die;

 But Fantasyland’s a nice place
There’s nothing to second guess,
She only has to ask
The answer is always yes;

And in our world
We cuddle all day,
Look, Touch, and Kiss,
This is how we play;

We communicate all day
Without uttering a word,
We had to learn this
For we could not be heard;

We would be ostracized
By society at large,
It’s only in Fantasyland
Where we are in charge;

We were so far away
Yet oh so near,
We found ways to communicate
Yet we always lived in fear;

It was in Eden we lived
Like Adam and Eve,
Everything they had
Is what we believe.

For God created Eve
And my beloved too,
And if you ever meet my beloved
You’ll know this is true;

My beloved is so beautiful
I see her every night,
I may be bi-polar
But I have amazing insight;

Dream after dream
She is always there,
Deep inside my mind
Who else would care?

And in picture after picture
In the scrapbook I made,
Fantasyland is glorious
My beloved came once and stayed;

And with my pictures and my poems
I’ve created a world from nothing,
A place we could exist
Where nothing became something;

Yes, my scrapbook has it all
Caught the essence of romance,
And of course there’s my beloved
And all of her elegance;

She is the only female
And I the only male,
Us the only two
There we prevail;

We need no one else
We have each other,
Never wanting more
Never needing another;

I think of Noah
Noah and his Ark,
Two by two
Where we could go and embark;

And lastly in Fantasyland
We live in a lawless frontier,
We are only bound by nature
Society we do not fear;

We simply Love each other
Your laws do not apply,
I know you want to change us
But it’d be futile to try;

For we in Fantasyland
Decide what’s right and wrong,
Most of what we believe
Is written in song;

So, although you’ll never see it
I can tell you first hand,
That me and my beloved

Rule Fantasyland!

Eccentricities in eBook

Sorry I haven't written in such a long time.  I have been finishing and preparing for publication my latest book Eccentricities.  It is going to be released as an eBook and it is on target to be released and made available at all major online booksellers on September 17th.

It is a collection of my poetry on a variety of subjects, Love, life, happiness, etc.  Unlike my other works this book is not heavy on abuse.  I am saving those writings for The Mind Guards the Gate poetry series.  Here is a sample:

Heart of Hearts

I don’t always see you
But I want to,
‘Cause in my heart of hearts
I hear you;

Worlds and worlds apart
I can’t touch you,
But in my heart of hearts
I feel you;

All I have is pictures
To turn to,
There in my heart of hearts
I see you;

I cannot even hold you
But I want to,
It’s in my heart of hearts
That I can touch you;

If only I could tell you
The only thing I want to,
It’s in my heart of hearts

“I love you.”

A month after the release of Eccentricities comes the release of the long awaited and highly controversial book The Rosebud Collection.  This will also be released as an eBook.  It was turned down by nine publishers before I found a publisher that shared my vision.  I promise you the artwork alone will satisfy all readers.

When Someday Becomes Today

When Someday Becomes Today

A beautiful chance encounter
I saw my Rosebud today,

I just love her so much
My heart I can’t betray,

Yet it is not our time
The laws I must obey,

So I’ll just write about it
In a poetic kind of way,

There is just so much I want to share with her
So much I wish to say,

I want to be the one to show her
Our world of poetry,

Because it’s her that I write for
Each and every day,

Sure I have my pictures
In a beautiful array,

And then there’s my scrapbook
When I have the time to play,

But I need so much more
I wish she would stay,

For now I’ll just bide my time
And it will be to everyone’s dismay,

When we can be together
When someday becomes today.

To Write or Not to Write, That is the Qustion

Essay: To write or not to write, that is the question.

Very early on in my writing career in my quest to become a published poet & essayist I faced a very difficult question.  I suffered from years of abuse and wanted to reach out and share with those that suffered or still suffer childhood sexual abuse and trauma.  But, I knew early on, if I proceeded down this path and ultimately achieved my goal of publication that I would be bringing my close family and friends into the spotlight. A spotlight they may not want to be in.  It was a tough decision that I had before me because for one thing some of my immediately family had no idea I was abused.
It is estimated that one in four girls and one in seven boys will be abused by the age of twelve by someone they know.  That is a shocking statistic.  It boggles the mind when you try and think about how many children that really is.  And that is only the one’s we know if.  A lot of our children never come forward, remain silent, and carry these scars with them for the rest of their lives.
If you are reading this then you know what I decided to do.  I had to do it. I mean, if you could potentially help thousands wouldn’t you have to do it?  Even if it meant hurting the four, or the two, or the one.  The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

I don’t regret making that decision years ago.  And, ten years from now I will feel the same way I do today.  And that is, if I were only able to help even just one person or child that suffered as I did then it would have all been worth it, regardless of the sacrifice that had to be made.

I'm All In!

I’m All In!

I’ve placed my bet
And I’m all in,
So let’s get started
Let the dealing begin;

How could I do it
‘Cause love is blind,
And as the cards are dealt
Don’t know what I’ll find;

What started as a glance
Is now my love affair,
Contained in my mind
Not yet able to share;

Share this burning desire
Saturating my heart,
As the inner child cries
As long as we’re apart;

So I took a leap
Just had to begin,
It’s only after the deal
That I’ll know if I win;

Will I win her heart
Or will I bust out,
No, I will be victorious
Of this I have no doubt;

So let’s play out this hand
Like I said I’m all in,
Love conquers all
Let the games begin!

Day of Reckoning

Day of Reckoning

I need to know that people like you
Are walking the earth,
I’ve watched everything you’ve done
Since childbirth;

I’ve watched you over the years
Grow more and more,
More beautiful with each passing year
Then you were the year before;

You’ve now become my Rosebud
And our time is drawing near,
Where I can lose all inhibitions
And overcome my fear;

My fear that you’ll reject me
‘Cause I love you oh so much,
I long to hold you
And feel your tender touch;

You’ve done so much for me
A debt I can never repay,
But I am willing to try
Until my dying day;

I’ve watched and I’ve waited
Year after year,
And Rosebud I am waiting patiently
As our day of reckoning comes oh so near;

You are such a kindred spirit
It’s so torturous to wait,
If anyone has had an unattainable love
I know they can relate;

They know the torture that I live
Each and every day,
With this unrequited love
It’s for you that I pray;

For me it will be over soon
As the angels watch from above,
When I can finally give my Rosebud

My undying love.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday
6/24/19

It was always you and I,
And I’ll be telling this with a sigh,
As you know I never lie,
You gave me the strength so I could try,
And if I reached the starry sky,
It’s because you gave me wings so I could fly,
Now it’s time to say good-bye,
And I don’t want you to cry,
Don’t want to see a tear in your eye,
I know on others you can rely,
So now please…

Please just let me die.

Not On My Watch

Not On My Watch

I know my day will come
And I will be prepared,
Still I’m apprehensive
And a little bit scared;

Will I rise to the occasion
When I get the call?
When nothing else will matter
And I have to give it my all;

I must forget about my family
Friends and all the rest,
When I’m called upon
And put to the test;

My heart will guide me
My Rosebud I’ll reveal,
It is then she’ll know
Exactly how I feel;

And it’ll be my finest hour
Which I am not going to botch,
No evil will ever befall her

At least not on my watch.
